Back from our Trip

So I lugged all my needles and the medications to Augusta and back that, according to my schedule, I was supposed to start taking while we were gone. As it turns out, that wasn't necessary because my donor is about a week behind - according to the schedule I was given. I actually just got the call from the pharmacy this morning to pay for her meds, so that's exciting. I guess she will start stimming this week which means I'll have to figure out what to do with the estring and then start the estrogen shots this week. I guess having all those meds in my luggage got the attention of the airport security because I found a slip of paper in my luggage informing me that my bag had been searched. Also, my unopened boxes of meds had been opened - I don't really like the thought of strangers going through my stuff and opening up my meds- but I guess that's the world we live in these days.

Our trip was fabulous. The only bad part was that we attended a lot of dinners and cocktail functions while we were there, which was great, except I think we must have gotten asked at least 10 times - no joke - "So, do you have kids?" I guess that's the only topic people discuss during small talk over cocktails. After about the fifth time, it really started to make me uncomfortable and feel a little like a freak. I also realized that my old standy answer of - we just got married a year ago (two years ago) and have been focused on buying and renovating our house so that's next - no longer works - since we've now been married nearly three years and all the major work on our house has been completed for some time. I actually started to give that answer the first time someone asked me the kid question and realized how dumb it must sound to "normal" people - oh, we just got married - THREE years ago - doesn't really work anymore - especially at my age. I'm sure they are all thinking - well, you're not getting any younger, what are you waiting for! I would love to see their reactions if I answered - I'm glad you asked. I'm actually doing lupron shots right now and waiting for my donor to have her period so she can start shooting herself up with drugs everyday, so check back in a few weeks after my husband's sperm gets injected into her eggs......

Hopefully, next year, I'll be able to answer - why, yes, we do have a son or daughter who is just a couple of months old.

I hope you have a less complicated answer to that question soon.
