Finally....details!!

Finally, finally... the nurse called this afternoon. She's always so nice on the phone - when you actually get to speak to her. She mentioned in passing how crazy things have been, so it's a little hard to take my frustrations out on her for doing such a poor job of returning phone calls. I really think it's just the clinic and the fact that they seem to be chronically understaffed - which doesn't make things any better for me and the level of service that I am receiving (yes, this clinic sucks), but at this point, what can I do?

Anyway... the good news is - I so like my new donor on paper!! She sounds so much better than my last donor - no major issues (other than the fact that she is slightly older than I would like but still within the standard donor guidelines). She matches up with me much better than the last one as far as education level goes, similar interests, similar physical appearance, good medical history, and her blood type is the same as mine. She has grandparents in their late 80s early 90s who still swim laps daily and play golf - so good longevity genes. She is married and has a child of her own whom the nurse said is absolutely adorable, so I'm really very happy with her.

The only bad part is that she is a teacher, so she is finishing up the school year and then is going on a two-week vacation, so the nurse is guessing that we are probably looking at retrieval at the end of July. That sucks considering that I was supposed to cycle with my original donor in April, but I feel so much better about this donor that I think it's worth the delay. I really do think all the crap that went down with my last donor was a clear sign that she was not the right one for me. Somebody was trying to look out for me (maybe it was my mom or my grandparents up in heaven going - no, no - don't pick that one!) Now, I'm just hoping things can continue to go well - smooth sailing from here on out - I hope! Time for a celebratory drink - I'm so glad the nurse called, so I can relax and enjoy my weekend.

Oh hooray!!! I'm sure this was a sign that last donor was not THE one. This one sounds great, and at least you KNOW what she's doing for 2 weeks (instead of being left hanging...) I know you are past ready, but maybe you can go for a mini vaca or a weekend before you have to start all the meds and stuff? Sending you the best wishes -

Wow, this donor lets the clinic know ahead of time where she will be???!!! Sounds like a better choice to me :) It's too bad that you would have to wait until the end of July, but if you feel more comfortable with the donor, then in the end, I am sure it will all be worth it!
