Confusion

I had called my nurse to ask about possibly switching me to a different brand of BCPs because these are making me crazy and I've also been spotting daily which I've never done on other brands that I've used. So when she called back, I thought we were going to discuss the BCPs but instead she asked if I could come in tomorrow morning to get started on my Lupron. I don't know exactly what this means - how this coincides with the donor's cycle and how long I'll be on the Lupron etc. So I told her that I could come in and said, well I guess you'll just fill me in on everything I need to know tomorrow then and she said yes. So for now, I have no idea what's going on. Guess I'll find out what the deal is tomorrow. I'm just hoping things aren't starting RIGHT away because my husband and I have plane tickets purchased to fly down to Augusta for the Masters over Easter.

I remember feeling so crazy on BCP.

I think I was on Lupron for about a week then I took a blood test and started estrogen (which is when the Donor started her stims)...ER so was like 12 days after that. You may have to stick around for a blood test before they start your estrogen. But if the donor is also suppressing you might be able to extend that suppression time if you are out of town. If you are both suppressed then I don't see why they wouldn't just suppress you both for a few more days.

Riley, I'm so late to the game to comment but better late than never. I'm glad you chose your donor, despite the alcohol heredity issues. Maybe I'm just being naive but I do have extensive anecdotal evidence of alcoholism NOT being passed down to children. First of all, my own father - and I have about a dozen drinks a year and have no interest in "the bottle." An old boyfriend of mine had a dad who was a raging alcoholic (we're talking, vodka and gin bottles under the car seat - a mess) - he and his 3 siblings were all post-graduate high achievers, with one who is an OB/GYN from Cornell University and not one of them has a drinking issue. My friend's parents (both of them) drink from breakfast through the evening - passed out drunks - and not one of their children has ever had a drinking problem of any kind.

Okay, I guess maybe there could be a gene there but, like with most genes, they have to be turned on and expressed a certain way to work.

Anyhoo, I have to put you on my blog roll so I remember to hop in and check up on you.

Very excited for your cycle! :)

So exciting to get started on all the meds - hopefully they will just take you off the BCPs, I think I did when I started lupron...but if not I can't imagine they would have a problem with you switching there are so many kinds. But what do I know?

I bet your vacation will fit right in - you can bring your drugs with you and it's a pain but doable. And if you have to you can get checked down there, which is better than canceling a vacation (IMHO). Good luck!
