Thanksgiving Retrieval?

Hmmm......I called the nurse today to try to get some general idea of when she thought the donor may be getting AF and when everything will be starting. With the holidays coming up, I'm trying to finalize plans with my family and would like to know when all of this is going to take place. She said right now, it looks like I'll probably be starting lupron on Oct. 29 if every thing goes according to schedule. I don't have my official schedule yet, but basing it on the schedule I used for my last cycle, that would put retrieval right around Thanksgiving - possibly the day before. I guess that doesn't really impact me - but, my poor donor. I hope she wasn't planning on preparing Thanksgiving dinner for her family - probably not if she's only 23. I forget that she's not "old" like me who will be preparing dinner for my in-laws. So, I guess that part is OK. But then I'm really hoping for a 5-day transfer, which I hope I'll get since we are using gametes from two twenty-somethings who are proven "producers." There is a big college rivalry football game the Saturday after Thanksgiving - my alma mater versus my hubby's - that we are planning to attend and take the family to, so if it's a five-day transfer, I'm in perfect shape. If it's a three-day, then I may be missing out on the big game. And, of course, all this is pure speculation right now. I'm ready to get my official schedule in hand!

Hey -- it's great that you are getting started and have the whole schedule thing starting to come together.

Isn't it funny (and not really "funny ha ha", but "funny hmmmm") how, with this whole IF thing, the first thing we do is go to the calendar? I've never used my calendar so much to make sure that the 5 weeks from now +/- 4 days I don't buy tickets for something that I can't attend b/c of ER or something like that.

Anyway, I hope that the scheduling stars align and so you get both the young thing's eggs and the football game before the end of the year!

Hmmm...Can you request a 5-day? Will they let you decide? At any rate, I am very glad it's all moving forward for you!! Wishing you all the best for this and that there will be lots to be thankful for next Thanksgiving!!!
Love,
Maddy

It's definitely nice to have a schedule. Just to have some sense of a timeline. Of course they are always subject to change, but somehow having that piece of paper in your hand makes it more real. I hope your donor's AF shows up soon!
