RE Pet Peeve
I absolutely hate being called back to the examination room when they obviously have no intention of coming in to "examine" you any time in the near future. Like on Tuesday - I went in for my ultrasound to make sure everything was good to start this cycle. I was sitting comfortably on a nice couch in the waiting room. For once, it was not crowded - only me and one other woman. I had a nice supply of the latest celebrity magazines to flip through. All was fine. They called me back fairly quickly and I thought, oh, this is nice. I'll be out of here in no time. Right. Instead, I undress from the waist down, wrap myself in a paper towel sheet that is so small I can't get it around me far enough to completely cover my butt. And then I sit...and wait....and wait some more. All the while, my butt is freezing. I'm uncomfortable. I have no magazines to flip through and I can hear the nurses out in the hall just chatting away. I sat there, for at least 15 minutes. I don't get it!! If you are not ready for me, please let me keep my pants on and leave me out in the waiting room where I can get caught up on all the latest celebrity gossip without freezing my ass off. How hard is that?

I hear you. And it's even worse when this happens for the day 3 ultrasound (TMI, I know). YUCK!
I'm so with you. At every doctor/ dentist/ whatever I always take a mag with me so that I have something to keep me busy while I'm freezing my ass off.
OMG! You are so right! This has happened to me a couple of times and I realized it's about THEIR comfort and convenience, not mine - and I AM THE CLIENT! How ridiculous!
It's never worse than in the RE's office where you are ALWAYS pantless and humiliated enough!
Huh...we were probably both half naked and WAITING at the same time. I had to wait 30 minutes in the exam room, sans magazine (but at least I had my iTouch), sans pants too. My legs still hurt from contorting myself into a halfway decent position so as not to expose myself prematurely when the doctor came in. Too much of my time lately is spent WAITING for something.
But of course it is entirely for THIER convenience. The nurses make quick work of you so that their job is done and they can go back to chatting. The doc can take his/her sweet time b/c they know that whenever they walk in, you will be undressed and waiting. It is horrible for the patient, though. You sit there, shifting your weight, leaning back on your hands, trying to prevent your back from breaking while keeping the paper sheet from slipping off your lap. It' wretched.
I have to say my RE is great about this - in an out. Some complain that we are treating like cattle, but I appreciate the efficiency.
