Not like I ever enjoyed giving myself shots in my belly, but during my three attempts at IVF, it was really no big deal for me. I didn't love it, but it was nothing that I got worked up over - well, that is after I got past the first time or two. For a while there, it became fairly routine. I felt like all I ever did was shoot myself up in the belly.
So, I don't really understand what the difference is this time around now that I'm getting ready for DE IVF, but I've heard other people mention it, too - the lupron shots are really bothering me. I can't really explain it - it's not like the shots hurt all that much, I'm just having a hard time actually stabbing myself with the needle for some reason. Every time I go to do it, I end up hesitating and then thinking that it hurts more than it actually does. Weird. Hopefully, it will get easier and more routine the longer I do it. It has been a couple of months since my last injections.

I went through that and decided to ice the belly and warm the bum. worked a treat.
Yes. The weirdest thing for me? All my previous IUI's/IVF I gave myself IM shots (well, rather my hubby did). I didn't like them all that much, but tolerated them.
Now, I have a pesky subQ needle for the Lupron, and I can't stand it. I've been rotating from belly to thigh, and yesterday I hit a vein in my thigh and almost lost it.
I'm such a wuss. ;-)
I can't say I ever felt the Lupron (or stim) needles have ever hurt. I pinch some fat on my tummy (plenty to grab from :( and fire away. This last cycle I developed a tiny bruise one time from a vein I must have hit and it hurt a bit. But, overall, the shots are fine - it's the effect of the Lupron that's purely evil. Now, the Progesterone in Oil shots, not so nice - LONG and intramuscular. I've hit a vein twice and the second time I was in such pain and blood went EVERYWHERE! My butt is bruised and lumpy on each side. I hope they wean me off of this crap soon!
