14

My nice nurse actually called me unexpectedly with the news today. 14 eggs retrieved. It's so funny, how 14 is a great number, but we're a little disappointed that it's not more. I guess everyone wants that donor that produces 30 eggs. But 14 is more than double anything I ever produced and it's more than our last donor, so I'm pretty happy and feeling calm about everything. I'm more worried about the phone call on Monday - the fert report - that's where things usually start to go downhill - either eggs not fertilizing or failing to divide. I hope Monday's phone call is a good one.

Keep reminding yourself that these are young, healthy eggs, so it's possible that most or even all will fert. and look great! Lots of fert. and growth vibes!

Don't kid yourself - 14 is a really great number and the average of what I hear on the "Fertility Forum" of successful donor egg cycles.

Hey I just saw your blog through another blogger and hope you don't mind if I follow along. I wish you luck, 14 is a good number, all you need is one!

I totally know what you mean about hoping for more - I mean, c'mon, a super ueberfertile young type should be able to generate 30 or 40, right?! - but honestly the egg quality tends to be a lot better if they don't overstim your donor and she comes in with fewer. So far so good!

14 is a fantastic number. Keep telling yourself it's quality over quantity. She and the sperm are young, so I'll bet you'll get a great fert report. I'm so excited for you! Can't wait for tomorrow's news.

14 is great. My donor gave me 8 and we ended up with 5 embryos. One one them is still growing inside me and heading into week 18. So stellar numbers don't always mean success. Huge amount of luck.
