Beta Day?

Ok - I'm confused. My clinic told me to come in 14 days after transfer for my pregnancy test. That would be Christmas Eve. However, everyone else I know who has had or is having a 5-day transfer has their beta scheduled for 9 days later. That would be this Saturday for me. I definitely don't want to test that day because we are hosting a Christmas party at our house that night and I want to be festive - not potentially balled up in the fetal position crying my eyes out.

If we had done a 3-day transfer, my beta would be Dec. 22 rather than Dec. 24, so I don't know what to do. Do I just wait until the 24th? Or do I see if I can go in earlier - some time between the 20 and 23?

I have to admit that I'm scared to death. If it's good news - bring it on. If not, I have a Christmas party, my birthday and Christmas to get through and I don't really want any of them to be ruined. I guess I'll call my nurse and see what she has to say about it.

Update: I spoke to my nurse and she still says that I have to wait 2 weeks even with a 5-day transfer. That does not make any sense at all. Well, I know I certainly can't wait that long. I think Dec. 20 will be my testing day - that will be 10dp5dt - which is 15 days - I would do 14 days but don't want to ruin our Christmas party, so Dec. 20 it is - one day before my birthday - and I'm still scared to death.

My first one was 9dp6dt. I've never heard of waiting until 14 days past transfer. That would be like 19dpo, which seems way too long to wait. I don't even know how I am going to handle my next beta. I was so tramatized by the last round and HPTs I'm just not sure what I will do. I get stressed out just thinking about it.

Good luck! I've got everything crossed for you!

I think it's normally 14 days past retrieval, not transfer. I would call your clinic and clarify with them, but I'm guessing they'll want you to come in earlier than Christmas Eve. Good luck!!

That is wierd, but hey, if it is positive, you'll have a nice high number!

Yeah, stupid. My clinic always does the first beta 14 days post retrieval. Since I had 3 day and 6 day transfers, I had 11 day and 8 day waits.

Thinking good thoughts for the 20th!

That is a very long wait. But you can always POAS, right? I hope beyond hope that nothing will be ruined and that you will have the best birthday and Christmas ever!!!

I agree, that seems like a really long wait. I like your idea of POAS on Dec 20 so as not to *potentially* ruin your Christmas party. But that wont happen, right??? (Fingers and toes crossed!!!)

I had a 5-day transfer and had to wait 9 days for beta.

I agree with Maddy. You can always POAS.

Good luck and DON'T stress! (easier said than done, I know).

Yep -- like the other women here I am testing 9 days after 5dt. (23rd), Originally they had said the 24th, but since the lab is closing early, they are cool with 9 days.

See if they can have you in then. Or there are the sticks. But the sticks are dangerous -- once you decide you will use them, then you have the opportunity to move the first test earlier and earlier... Aaargh.

Good luck!! I so am rooting for you

It is odd that they have you testing 19dpt. It's supposed to be 14 days post retrieval/fertilization. If you had a 5dt, that makes it 9 days after transfer. I wish you the best of luck - hopefully this is your cycle!

So I guess that means you'll POAS on 12/20? Otherwise, did you have them move up the beta date?

I really and truly would be floored if you didn't get a BFP - so I think it's going to be a very Merry Christmas indeed.

Hey--I can't figure out how to email you, but I'm going to be moving on to the same set up (de/ds), and wondered how many more of us there are that you know of...

I guess the clinic just wants to "be sure" that the result is clear, one way or the other. I can't think of any reason to make you wait so long. Well, I say POAS. 10dp5dt ought to be plenty enough time.
